Your Teachers

Janita Doelken

Originally from Germany, I’ve lived in many countries and can call Australia home for 14 years. It was through injury recovery that I discovered yoga and its healing benefits, and I never looked back. It has been the one constant companion over the past 16 years of my life and years in the busy corporate world, watching people lose their 'Yin,' reminded me to keep this practice close. Motherhood deeply inspires my teaching, and I draw from it often. The most beautiful part of teaching is witnessing students discover that this practice is a path to deeper connection. We are always learning and evolving. Let Yin be something we carry for a lifetime.

Alessia Frisina

I first discovered yoga in my early twenties, when I travelled to India on a spiritual quest. I flirted with the practice for years until, in 2017, I returned to Rishikesh to deepen my studies and complete my teacher training. The birth of my children brought a profound insight into my practice and teaching and drew me closer to the Yin practice. Meeting what comes fully is one of the goals of yoga, and in labour I discovered Yin’s invitation to soften into each sensation. Rather than resisting “contractions,” I found myself yielding into expansion, like a long-held posture melting into stillness. In that space of surrender, I learned to listen deeply to my body’s wisdom. This realisation now nourishes my practice, teaching, and mothering.

Both teachers bring years of experience in Yin Yoga, trauma-aware teaching, and embodied facilitation, offering a balanced blend of knowledge, presence, and care.
